Morpeth Scout Group even more 'prepared' thanks to F.Peart & Co

March 2012

The scouts based at the 4th Morpeth Scout Group, at Low Stanners, are even more ‘prepared’ for the future in their freshly painted scout hut, thanks to a generous donation from local heating oil supplier, F. Peart & Co.

With over 130 young members, aged between six and 18, attending meetings four nights a week, the Scout group has recently added an extension to the hut to keep up with the ever-growing number of visitors.

The £500 donation from F. Peart & Co, which is based in Hartlepool and supplies oil across the North East, has enabled the group to give the newly built extension a good lick of paint, to ensure the hut is ready to welcome both new and old members alike to the improved premises.

The donation was made as part of the company’s charitable bursary scheme, after Liz Waterfield, parent and fundraising co-ordinator of the scout group, contacted the company. As part of F. Peart & Co’s commitment to the local community, the bursary scheme aims to support worthwhile causes in the North East and provide an extra helping hand to those in need.

Speaking about the donation, Liz said: “The scout group had recently celebrated its 85th birthday and despite having grown in size over the past few years, there was still a large waiting list of young people wanting to join.

“The newly painted extension means we can welcome our new members to the hut in style and has completely freshened the place up in creams and whites. F. Peart & Co’s kind donation has really enabled us to add the perfect finishing touches to our extension and improve the facilities for the scouts.”
Laura Jackson, business manager at F. Peart & Co, added: “The scout group has been working tirelessly to raise funds to improve their hut and we are really pleased to have been able to contribute with the donation.

“We have no doubt that the refurbishment will really help the scouts and it is wonderful to be able to award local community groups such as this with donations through the bursary scheme.”

As a loyal supplier to the region for over 80 years, providing both domestic and commercial oil to rural and remote communities, F. Peart & Co launched the charitable bursary scheme in November 2011 to support local community groups, charities and sports teams who need a helping hand.
